English Abroad – Funny Use of English in Germany
This is definitely a candidate for Engrish.com.
I always get a kick out of how other countries use English words. This is from a kids hat in Germany and is actually a brand name: PICKAPOOH is a small manufacturer from hamburg, germany that produces caps for babies and toddlers.
Do you think they meant “peek-a-boo?”
If You See This German License Plate, Let Me Know! Number: M R 3190
A about a month ago I washed my car at the Sunshine Car Wash on Manheim Pike, a “soft touch” car wash that was anything but soft. Afterwards I noticed that my original Munich License Plate was missing. Unfortunately I didn’t notice it until after I drove over to the PNC Bank on Fruitville Pike by Kmart. At that point I noticed that the holder was broken and the license plate was gone. I retraced my tracks back to the car wash but did not see the plate anywhere on the road or in the parking lots (PNC, Savemart) where I stopped. I asked at the car wash and walked through to see if was laying in there. We only found the outer portion of the holder that broke off.
I figure either someone from the car wash snatched it up or it fell off on the road and someone picked it up. You can see the numbers in the pictures, but the number is M R 3190. If you see this anywhere please let me know. I would love to have it back. I’ll even give a small reward to whoever returns it. Thanks!

How to order a beer at the Oktoberfest: A Bier, bittschen
Maybe the most important thing to know before you hit the Weis’n. How to order a beer in Bavarian:
A Bier, bittschen – One beer please or a beer please.
Make sure if you just one 1 beer you put up your thumb. If you use your pointer finger they will take it as you want 2. So, thumb up = 1 beer. Pointer finger up = 2 beers. Thumb and pointer finger = 2 beers.
O’zapft is (Angezapft ist) – It’s Tapped
Every year the Lord Mayor of Munich declares the Oktoberfest to be officially opened with “It’s tapped!”, as he hammers a tap into the very first keg of Oktoberfest beer.

Record Win for Portugal
Portugal stamped out any doubt that they can put the ball in the back of the net today with a 7-0 win over North Korea. This is the most decisive win of the 2010 World Cup and the 7th most decisive match in the history of the World Cup. There have been three 9-0 wins and three 8-0 wins including the 8-0 German win over Saudi Arabia in 2002.
There were no selfish players in the game either as Portugal’s 7 goals came from 6 different people. The scoring opened up in the second half when North Korea seemed to have lost all concentration. I feel a bit bad for the North Koreans to blown out like this after playing so well against Brazil. Hopefully they survive the return home…
