It’s Oktoberfest time: Party “Bayern-Style”
Only 30 days till the start of Weis’n 2012! – Oktoberfest in high German 😉
There’s only one week left of the Oktoberfest. Did you make it to Munich this year? In case you missed the opening. Here’s the video of the mayor tapping the first keg.
Time to really get the party going. Everyone is warmed up, now let’s do a cheer. You’ll definitely hear this one.
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit, der Gemütlichkeit, Ein Prosit, ein Prosit, der Gemütlichkeit
Oans, zwoa, g’suffa! “One two drink!”

Maybe the most important thing to know before you hit the Weis’n. How to order a beer in Bavarian:
A Bier, bittschen – One beer please or a beer please.
Make sure if you just one 1 beer you put up your thumb. If you use your pointer finger they will take it as you want 2. So, thumb up = 1 beer. Pointer finger up = 2 beers. Thumb and pointer finger = 2 beers.
Every year the Lord Mayor of Munich declares the Oktoberfest to be officially opened with “It’s tapped!”, as he hammers a tap into the very first keg of Oktoberfest beer.
Tomorrow the 177th Otkoberfest starts at 11am with the traditional parade through Munich to the Theresienwiese the site of the Oktoberfest. Then the official opening is when the Christian Ude the mayor of Munich declares “O’zapft is!” or It’s tapped! as he taps the first Keg in the Schottenhamel-Tent.
