The Flying Dutchmen defeated a blue clad Brazil team 2-1 in the quarter final match.
The big Oranje came back to beat Brazil team 2-1 in the quarter final match.
In the 10th minute Robinho made a perfectly timed run cut through the Dutch defense where he received the ball and was one on one with the goal. He then slotted it past the keeper to open the scoring for Brazil. Kaka later had a great chance, but was blanked by Stekelenburg with an impressive save as he aimed for the upper right corner. The first half ended 1-0 for Brazil.
The Dutch managed to get on the scoreboard quickly in the second half with a great long distance effort from Scneijder, that ended up as an own goal off the head of Brazilian defender Felipe Melo. In Dutchmen took the lead in the 68th minute with a goal from Scneijder. The goal came from a corner kick from Robben that Kuyt skimmed to a to a goal hungry Scneijder in the center of the goal. Shortly after Oranje took the lead Melo ended his less then stellar game by getting sent off in the 73rd minute for stamping on Robben as he lay on the ground.

Brazil gets to start packing and Holland gets ready for their semi-final match on Tuesday July 6, against the winner of the Uruguay-Ghana match which will be played later today.

Record Win for Portugal
Portugal stamped out any doubt that they can put the ball in the back of the net today with a 7-0 win over North Korea. This is the most decisive win of the 2010 World Cup and the 7th most decisive match in the history of the World Cup. There have been three 9-0 wins and three 8-0 wins including the 8-0 German win over Saudi Arabia in 2002.
There were no selfish players in the game either as Portugal’s 7 goals came from 6 different people. The scoring opened up in the second half when North Korea seemed to have lost all concentration. I feel a bit bad for the North Koreans to blown out like this after playing so well against Brazil. Hopefully they survive the return home…
CLIPPER STADIUM HOSTS WORLD CUP SOCCER EVENT
It’s on !! On the big screen, that is. The United States will face England at the World Cup for the first time since the famous upset 60 years ago. The U.S. opens against England on June 12, the teams’ first World Cup matchup since the Americans’ 1-0 victory at the 1950 tournament in Brazil.
If you can’t go to South Africa to see the game, the best seats in the house will be at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The game will be live on the giant screen as well as various locations throughout the stadium.
Gates open for the Rossi World Cup Soccer Festival at 11:00am on Saturday, June 12. The event kicks off with field and play activities for the kids. Concessions will be open on the concourse with all the favorite game day fare as well as a taste of Old England featuring Fish ‘n Chips. Adults can indulge with a sampling of brew at the beer tasting stand. Enjoy music by local favorite, Green Eggs from 12:00-2:00. The World Cup match begins at 2:30 pm.
Admission is FREE for adults. Tickets for children 18 and younger are $5.00. All children’s games and amusements are FREE. Kickback a Buck! $1.00 goes to your soccer club for every ticket sold.
Kids activities include soccer games, soccer skills contests, face painting, bumper boats, play area with inflatables and carousel and much more.
