I received a call from that number 401-889-9876 (Rhode Island) tonight and it was a Spanish recording. I Googled the number and came up with some info. Aparently I’m not the only one getting this call. My question is how did they get my cell number. This is what the message says apparently:
”Because of your excellent credit you’ve won a prize! Press 1 to claim your prize”

Hi, I just got a call from 410-889-9876 and it said Congratulations, for being such a wonderful Rogers client we are offering a prize,this is exclusivly for Rogers customers only, please press one to continue, so I pressed 1 cause I thought it was something to do with my provider Rogers..and was on hold for a min. and then decided to call the number from my land line and it said it was disconected so I hung up immediatly and reported it to Rogers, but they said there was nothing they could do. Are you aware at all as to what this is all about? can they do anything to hurt my cell account and my number? just curious so I googled the number and found a ton of posts on this number.. any info if I need to be conserned? thanksD.

I just received a call from this number. I think it may be related to a scam that i got caught up in recently. I was searching craigs list for a place to live 2 days ago and one of the places wrote back with instructions to perform a free credit check instead of filing the usual 25 dollar non refundable credit check that land lords usually ask for. I did it, and now both my phone number and credit card number etc. have been compromised.
